Essay Contest
Led by our Community Director Joseph Pitisci, our council had 4 participants in the Catholic Citizens Essay Contest.
Essay Question: “In an essay of 500-750 words, describe everyday obstacles that you may have experienced or witnessed others experiencing while living a life of authentic faith. Explain how you have overcome these obstacles and how, by doing so, it has helped your faith to continue to grow.”
Alexander James, Prudence James, Matthew Hardin, and Samantha Ingenito participated.
As one of the judges of these Essays, I read each of them, all 4 of these Essays were Most Excellent! The other judges and I gave TOP Scores to each of these Essays. While none advanced beyond the State, I want to recognize the outstanding work by these fine catholic students and award these Certificates. Congratulations to each of you.
Ultrasound Machine Donation
At the January Business meeting the council voted to donate $15,000 from the Pickleball Proceeds toward the purchase of an ULTRASOUND MACHINE for the new Pregnancy Center called Mayfair Imaging Center. Notre Dame council 10514 stepped up to donate an additional $3,000 that will cover ½ of the total cost of the machine. Supreme council will match that $18,000 to cover the total cost, and our Council 16492 will be on record as the sponsoring council. At this time, we will present the Check to GK Paul Gloekler, receiving for Mayfair Imaging Center.
Knights Deliver Rosaries to Malades at St Joseph
The rosaries were blessed by Fr. Rodolfo prior to the Mass and distributed to the Malades at the conclusion as they left the church. The rosaries they were extremely appreciated. Many thanks to the Rosary Ministry for their outstanding time, effort in making the rosaries and most importantly their prayers.
Knights Support Seminarian
As the strong right arm of the church, The Knights of Columbus are committed to providing moral, financial, and spiritual support to our future priests at all stages of their formation. The intent is to keep the faith alive through this support. The Knights of Columbus and the Parish families are also called to provide their “adopted” seminarian with moral support and prayers for their success. Now in our 2nd year of support for George Gilbert, St John Paul II Council 16492 presents this check to help offset the costs of his vocational expenses.
Knights Donate $2500 To Jay Fund
The Knights of Columbus St. John Paul II Council 16492 has donated $2500 to Tom Coughlan’s Jay Fund Foundation. The Jay Fund is a non-profit charity whose mission is to BE THERE for families battling childhood cancer with financial, emotional and practical support. The money was raised as part of the proceeds of The Florida-Georgia Pickleball Tournament. Sir Knight Anthony Cutright (Tournament Coordinator) presents the check to the Jay Fund.
